Elizabeth Owen Strader

CLICK HERE TO VIEW MEMORIAL VIDEORuffin, NC – Elizabeth Owen Strader, 93, of 613 Guerrant Springs Road went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at the Rockingham County Hospice House in Wentworth, NC after several years of declining health. Born March 15, 1920, in Danville, VA, she was the daughter of James Page Owen and Maude Powell Owen. Mrs. Strader has been residing in Rockingham County for the last 35 years. Since her retirement, she has enjoyed her garden and raising her flowers especially her roses. She was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church of Reidsville, NC. She was married to Elvin Wesley Strader who died on October 9, 1979. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Strader and Ronnie Strader; three grandchildren, John Soyars, David Phillips and Debbie Phillips. She married her second husband Numa Reid Strader on April 12, 1984. Survivors include her husband, Numa Reid Strader of the residence; six daughters, Rachel Geddings of Sumter, SC, Peggy French of Wentworth, NC, Faye Soyars of Eden, NC, Diane Adkins of Emerald Isle, NC, Kathy Patterson of Summerfield, NC and Gail Strader of Eden, NC; one son, Larry E. Strader of Ruffin, NC. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Wilkerson Funeral Home with the Reverend Ronnie Warner officiating. Interment will be in Happy Home Congregational Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
