Ellen H. King

Reidsville: Ellen H. King of 896 Knowles Rd., Reidsville, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Ellen was born on August 30, 1925, in Dry Fork, VA, to the late Albert Hodges Hearp and Laura Brown. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Sunday, November 24th, at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Puryear officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive family and friends from 6-8 P.M., Saturday at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Ellen H. King graduated from Ruffin High School. She married William King on November 21, 1948, in Reidsville. She was a faithful member of Penn Memorial Baptist Church where she held many positions, including Sunday School Director and a greeter. She enjoyed working outside taking care of her flowers. She thoroughly enjoyed keeping Leah, her only grandchild. Ellen was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, two brothers, one niece, one nephew and one great nephew. Survivors include her husband, William “Billy” King of the home; daughter, Orenthia K. Snead and husband, Wayne of Newport News, VA; son, Joey J. King and wife Shelia of Reidsville; granddaughter, Leah Jo King of Reidsville; sister, Audrey Thompson and husband, Julius of Reidsville; brother-in-law, Arthur F. Barker and a number of nieces and nephews.
