Elmer "Wayne" Emerson

Elmer Wayne Emerson, 75, of Providence, NC went to his heavenly home to be with Jesus, January 7, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kevin Emmerson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. burial will follow the service at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Wayne was born in Danville, VA to the late Elmer Emerson and Thelma Gray Lovelace. He was an extremely hard worker and retired from UNIFI after 32 years of service. Wayne was a happy person, and his happiness was reflected in the way he treated others. He loved to Joke and made life fun. He enjoyed doing yardwork and wood working. He loved working with his hands. Most of all he loved his family.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Mark Wayne Emerson and sister, Regina McDowell.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bettie McDaniel Emerson; daughter, Patricia E. Greenway and husband, Sammy; sisters, Joan Shelton and husband, Samuel, and Vicky Crowder; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Mosser, Joyce McDaniel, Darnell McDaniel and Jeanette McDaniel; brother-in-law, Bobby McDaniel as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a large group of extended family and friends.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to his son-in-law, Sammy, for his tender care during a time of need. The family would also like to thank Kerry Stevens for all his help during Wayne's illness. Last but not least a very special thank you to Sharon Stevens and Isaiah McDaniel for keeping our lawn looking so beautiful.
