Elmer “Bud” Taylor, 90, of Reidsville went home to be with The Lord, Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Gibson House.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Burton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Jones officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service from 1pm- 1:45pm at the church.
Elmer, who was known to everyone as “Bud” had a quick wit that surprised you and left you with a smile. He was an avid golfer who also loved creating unique flower beds and bird sanctuaries. Bud was a veteran of the Korean war and was a loving provider and caregiver for his late wife Mary Elizabeth Taylor.
Bud was born in Surry County to the late John and Ada Taylor. He worked for 30 years for the US Postal Service as a Production Planning Coordinator. He was a member of Burton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Mary and a great granddaughter, Hadley Kate Flournoy.
He is survived by four daughters Kay Thames (Howard), Susan Gibbs, Diane Huet (Woody) and Nancy Flournoy (Richard); Grandchildren, Katie Stewart (David), Chris Turner (Emily), Kyle Taylor Wardlow (Chris), Austin Huet, Maggie Huet, Eric Flournoy (Ashley), and Ryan Flournoy (Kelly); along with 10 great-grandchildren and a sister, Norma Dooley (Carl).
