Elton Harmon Trent, Jr, 84, of 707 Country Club Drive passed away on Saturday, December 16th, 2017.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at his place of worship, First Presbyterian Church at 318 South Main Street, Reidsville. There will be a private family burial.
He was born in Reidsville, North Carolina on February 23, 1933 to Elton and Evelyn Trent. He graduated from Reidsville High School and attended North Carolina State University before marrying Frances “Plum” Alston Trent. After marrying, they moved to Germany where he served in the Army. After two years they returned to Reidsville to start their family. During his free time he and Plum loved traveling which allowed them to pursue their mutual passions for golf, skiing and fishing. They loved the beach, Smith Mountain Lake and Florida where they made many lifelong friends.
He was President and Owner of Trent Construction Company. He was an avid pilot and flew to job sites throughout the south as well as for pleasure. He was a board member emeritus for First National Bank in Reidsville, a member of the Jefferson Penn Masonic Lodge and served on many other boards throughout his business career.
He is predeceased by his parents, Elton and Evelyn Trent, his loving wife Plum, his brother Charles Trent and sisters, Ann McAlister and Judy Trent.
He is survived by his sons Elton Trent, III and wife Sallie, Chris Trent and his wife, Andrea, and Alston Trent; grandchildren, Sarah Alston, Francie, Taylor, Kathryn and Christyn; his sister, Gail Shelton.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Monday, December 18th at Elton and Sallie’s home, 725 Country Club Drive.
