Reidsville –Emery Wayne Hall, 73, of 163 Spring Garden Road, died on Monday,
January 19, 2009 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00
PM, Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Calvary
Baptist Church
with Dr. Ron Boswell, Rev. Richard DeHart and Chief Dwain Strader officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory
Gardens.
Mr. Hall was born in Rockingham
County to the late Charlie W. “Red” and Bessie Knighten Hall. He graduated from
Wentworth High
School in 1953 and was a veteran serving in the US Army
stationed in Fort Chaffee, Fort
Smith, AK. He retired
from Duke Energy with over 30 years of service. Wayne
was a longtime and faithful member of Calvary Baptist
Church where he was a
member of the Steadfast Sunday School Class. He served on the Building and
Grounds committee and was a deacon for many years. He was a charter member of
the Wentworth Volunteer Fire Department serving for 42 years and also serving
as Chief for 29 years. Wayne
remained active on the board and was always devoted to the department. He was
very instrumental in paving the way for the reactivation of the town of Wentworth, and was
recently recognized as “Grand Marshall” for the 1st Annual Wentworth
Parade because of his selfless contribution. Wayne was a loving and caring husband,
father, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Jean
Brownlee Hall of the home; sons, Mike Hall and wife, Susan and Tim Hall and
wife, Susan all of Reidsville; granddaughters, Shayna and Manda Hall and Abby
Hall; sister-in-law, June Palmer and husband, Russell of Reidsville and a large
extended family and friends.
Visitation will be at Wilkerson
Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 20th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other
times at the home.
