Ernest Vernon Golden

Reidsville – Ernest Vernon Golden, 80, of 2423 Westover Drive, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at his home.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Lawsonville Road Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Tuck and Rev. David Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.Mr. Golden was born in Transylvania County to the late John Reelis Golden and Cannie Owen Moore. He was a retiree of Carolina Virginia Tobacco and a member of Lawsonville Road Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Talley Golden; two brothers and two sisters.Survivors include his daughters, Judith Basham and husband, Sammy of Hillsville, VA, Peggy Beard and husband, Mike of Stokesdale, Susan Lederer and husband, Bill of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Paul, Dwayne, Chasity, Kevin, Toni, Travis, Tyler, Tiffany, Ryan and Ashley; fourteen great grandchildren; brother, Robert Golden; sisters, Lucy Atkins, Betty Upchurch and Gertrude Sheppard.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 9 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM and other times at the home.
