Estella (Stella) Juanita Burns Hornaday, 47, of Reidsville, North Carolina, passed away on Monday March 25, 2013, at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer. Visitation for Stella will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home of Reidsville on Wednesday March 27th from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday the 28th at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Reidsville. Tripp Kimbrough, Chaplain with Hospice of Rockingham County will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Reidlawn Cemetery in Reidsville. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Wilkerson Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to the family at www.wilkersonfuneral.com. Stella was born in Dunn, North Carolina on June 28, 1965 to Robert Jennings Burns and Florence (Ginger) Virginia Burns. Stella graduated from Harnett Central High School in Lillington, North Carolina in 1984. Stella was married to David Wesley Hornaday on May 25, 1984; they were married for 29 years. Stella worked as a Senior Administrative Coordinator at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her many cats, having cook-outs, and traveling. Stella is survived by her husband David, her son Kyle Hornaday and his wife Whitney of Summerfield, North Carolina and son Jason Hornaday and his wife Crystal of Reidsville, North Carolina, grandchildren Aubrey, Chloe, and Eli Hornaday. Stella is also survived by her father Robert Burns and his wife Ella Jane of Wintersville, Ohio, her mother Ginger Burns of Mayodan, North Carolina, her sister Joyce Burns Thomas and her husband Buddy of Sanford, North Carolina, mother-in-law Betty Isley and brothers-in-law, Mark and Nathan Hornaday, all of Summerfield, North Carolina. Stella also had many loving nephews and nieces – Joey Thomas, John Thomas, Kaitlyn Hornaday, Nathan Hornaday, Jr., Julie Hornaday. She is also survived by many, many loving friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Hospice Home of Rockingham County or the American Cancer Society. The family of Stella Hornaday wishes to thank CCL of Greensboro for all of their loving support during Stella’s courageous battle.
