Esther Mae Manuel Campbell, 72, passed away at The Brian Center in Eden, May 4, 2020. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Reidlawn Cemetery with Pastor Doug Bray officiating.
Esther was born in Rockingham County to the late John King Manuel and Nannie Talbert Manuel. She was a homemaker and spent many years babysitting. She was an active member of Rock Of Ages Baptist Church served as a member of the Ladies Circle and was a choir member for many years. She was a wonderful cook and no one left her home hungry. She loved to work in her garden and could often be found canning what she grew. Most of all, she loved her family. She will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Billy Campbell.
She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Wilson (Jeff), Betty DeJournette (Doug) and Teresa Jewell (Ronnie); brothers, John Manuel (Sandra) and Donald Manuel (Tonda); sisters, Mary Alice Rowe, Nancy Hailey, Linda Griffin (Dee), Dolly Echols (David) and Malinda Hallock (John) grandchildren, Ashley DeJournette, Chris DeJournette, Heather Wilson and Amber Adkins; 9 great grandchildren; special friends, Ray, Geraldine and David as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
