Ethel Lorene Butler

Reidsville: Ethel Lorene Butler, 82, known by her family and friends as Lorene, passed away Monday morning, April 20, 2015, at Morehead Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Wilkerson Funeral Home, with Rev. Jonathan Marlowe officiating. Burial will follow at Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery. Lorene was a native of Pitt County and was the daughter of the late Dennis and Gola Adele Wilkinson Andrews. She was married to the love of her life, Carlyle Butler, for 58 years and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from Farmville High School and Wilson School of Nursing. As a Registered Nurse for 40+ years, Lorene devoted most of her career at Annie Penn Hospital, retiring as Assistant Director of Nursing in 1995. Nothing brought as much joy as spending time with her family, including the annual family beach trip and tailgating at NC State football games. She enjoyed collecting antiques and her husband’s azaleas. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Marvin Andrews, and sister-in-law, Dora Dean Andrews. Along with her husband, she is survived by her sons: Lyndal Butler of Greensboro; Gary Butler and his wife, Carol Donin of Durham; Craig Butler of Durham; and Philip Butler and wife, Tonya of Summerfield; grandchildren: Brienne and Leslie Butler, Andrew and Erin Butler, and Addison and Ainsley Butler; and one great-grandchild, Zoie Butler. Other close family members are Ruth Bailey and three special nieces: Rhonda Belton, Jennifer Christiansen, and Julia Dellamar. Visitation will take place on Wednesday evening, April 22, 2015, at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 till 8:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the home.
