Reidsville: Ethel Wood Walker, 90, of Brookdale Senior Living, 2931 Vance St., went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday morning, July 9th 2017.
A graveside service will be held at Reidlawn Cemetery, Wednesday, July 12th 2017 at 11 A.M with Elder David Underwood officiating. The family will receive visitors prior to the service Wednesday, July 12th beginning at 10 A.M at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
A retired 36 year employee of American Tobacco, Ethel loved to cook, read, cross stitch, make kleenex box covers, shop with her daughters, and push mow the lawn. While at Brookdale, she enjoyed bingo with Sherry, being in the library with her dear friends Judy Smith, Inez Robertson and Ida Jones. She also enjoyed attending craft class, painting with Mrs. Page and listening to Mike Martin preach.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years Houston Wallace Walker; brothers, JC and Everette Wood; sisters, Betty Jane Shepherd and Jewel Jordan.
Ethel is survived by her daughters, Joy Walker Ward (Donnie) and Hope Walker Hodges (Mickey); grandchildren, Michael Walker (Jeanna), Angela Ward Wright (Richie), Christina Ward Perkins (Steven); great grandchildren, Shelby Walker, Bailee Perkins, Ty Perkins, Nicholas Wright; sister, Metella “Toots” Perkins; brothers, Clifford Wood, Clyde Wood, and Jesse Wood; sister in law, Sarah Walker; brother in law, Thomas Rumley, along with a large extended family.
The family would like to thank the Brookdale staff for all the love, fun and care they extended to Mom for so many years. We love you all. Also, special thanks to the staff and support from Annie Penn Hospital and to the sitters that sat with Mom. She loved you all.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to be made to Hospice of Rockingham County at 2150 Hwy 65 P.O Box 281 Wentworth, NC 27375 or the church of your choice to further the Gospel of Christ.
