Eugene McCall Ingram

On Saturday, July 13, Eugene McCall Ingram, 85, of Reidsville passed to his eternal home surrounded by his loving family.

A private interment ceremony will be held for the family on Tuesday and will be officiated by Pastor Phil Surrett.

All are welcome to a celebration of Gene’s life and causal visitation with the family on Thursday, July 18, 5:00-7:00 PM at 241 Events, 241 The Boulevard, Eden, NC 27288.

Gene was born on a tobacco farm in Wentworth, North Carolina to his late parents, James Howard and Florence Ruby Ingram. A lifelong resident of Rockingham County, Gene graduated from Wentworth High School and served in the North Carolina National Guard. Over his hardworking life, he held many jobs, from barber to correctional officer. Gene was employed by John H. Harland Company as a machinist for forty-two years. Despite the commute to the facility on the south side of Greensboro, he earned numerous awards for perfect attendance. But Gene’s true vocation was caretaking: each day he looked for ways to care for his family, while also seizing opportunities to help all of God’s creation. Stranded motorists, hungry or wounded animals, wilting plants—Gene was called to care for all. In these countless Christian acts is Gene’s legacy.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, James Howard and Florence Ruby Ingram, his grandparents Fred and Lillian Rivers.

Gene is survived by his wife, Katie Edwards Ingram, his three children, Randall McCall Ingram, Todd Eugene Ingram, and Jenna Ingram Sinclair, his daughter-in-law, Patricia Colleen Ingram, his son-in-law William Michael Sinclair, and his two grandchildren, Cameron McCall Sinclair and Haley Victoria Sinclair.

In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, memorials may be made to Beacon Place Hospice Care, 2502 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405, 336-621-5301.
