Eugene Edward "Gene" Walker

REIDSVILLE – Mr. Eugene “Gene” Walker, 79, of Reidsville, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016. Mr. Walker was born on February 8, 1937 in Rockingham County to the late Eugene Flock Walker and Edna Abernathy Walker of Reidsville NC. Gene spent most of his adult life doing what he loved – buying, selling and trading used cars and antiques. Gene enjoyed traveling across the country looking for items to buy, sell and trade as well as go to yard sales in the local community. Gene opened his antique store Uptown Antiques in the eighties and he was very instrumental in the revival of Reidsville’s Antique Alley in downtown. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Careen “Wren” Walker and his sister, Gray Fargis. Survivors include his son, Steve and wife, Nina Walker of Wilmington and their children, Christoffer and Alexander; daughter, Sherri Walker of Reidsville and her child, John Michael Harris; his loving caregivers, April Hernandez and Maggie Garcia. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 10AM at the Apple-Nunn Family Cemetery. Rev. Mark Heath will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the gravesite.
