Eden: Evelyn Wanda Hollifield Sams, 62, of 1111 Simpson Street, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 and is now reunited with her husband of 44 years, Marvin Douglas Sams, Sr.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.Wanda was born in Rockingham County to the late Hoyt Hollifield and Mary Dixon Hollifield. She was married to Rev. Doug Sams and attended many churches over the years, but she last attended Victory by Grace Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and was the ultimate care giver, always putting the needs of others before her own. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Marvin D. "Trey" Sams, III.She is survived by her sons, Doug Sams, Jr. and wife, Rosemary of Suffolk, VA, Bruce Sams and wife, Cheryl of Eden; daughters, Ronda Goin and husband, David of Ridgeway, VA, Diane McNeill and husband, David of Reidsville, Donna Gaffney and husband, Mark of Stoneville; grandchildren, Amanda Stegall, Laura Denny, David McNeill, Jr., Mary Catlin, Ryan Sams, Devin and Derek Gaffney, Mason and Mallory Sams, Kayla Goin , Brittani and Brandi Parker; great-grandchildren, Carleigh and Corey Stegall; sisters, Carolyn Hopkins, Janet Jones and husband, Ronnie, all of Eden; brothers, Jerry Hollifield and wife, Betty of TX, Wayne Hollifield and wife, Eileen of Eden; special friends, Mabel and Coley Barnes and Doug Hawkins, all of Reidsville.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, December 16th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
