Everette Odell Allen

REIDSVILLE – Mr. Everette Odell Allen, 88, of Reidsville, passed away on Saturday, January 11th, 2014 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Mr. Allen was born in Rockingham County on August 29th, 1925 to the late John W. Allen and Bessie Perkins Allen. He attended East Side Baptist Church and was retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Company. He enjoyed time with his family, his church family, working on his farm and garden and was an avid crappie fisherman. Since March of 2012, he was a resident at Penn Nursing Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Hilda Comer Allen; brothers, Edgar and John Allen. Survivors include his son, Kenneth O. Allen and wife, Billie Jo of Brown Summit; his daughter, Betsy A. Carter and husband, Rev. D. Frank Carter of Chesapeake, Virginia; his grandchildren: Stephanie C. Hewitt and husband, Jim of Portsmouth, Virginia; Brandon L. Allen and wife, Meagan of Summerfield; Michael C. Allen of Brown Summit; two great- grandchildren: J. Payton Hewitt and Ethan Hewitt both of Portsmouth; his brother: James “Tim” Allen and wife, Margie of Reidsville; his sisters: Ella Lee Gunn of El Paso, Texas and Frances Manley of Reidsville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, 2014 at eleven o’clock at East Side Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Davis officiating. Interment will will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from six until eight o’clock at East Side Baptist Church, 1859 Barnes Street, Reidsville, North Carolina, 27320.
