Reidsville –Frances Gibson Belton Tate, 81, of 309 Acme Street, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 at her home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel UMC cemetery.Mrs. Tate was born in Rockingham County to the late Andrew Jackson and Della Mae French Gibson on November 8, 1929. She was of the Baptist faith. Frances worked for Fieldcrest and later retired from MacField after 22 years of service. Mrs. Tate loved red roses and all types of rose gardens. Among her other interests, she enjoyed cooking and sewing. Frances loved living a simple life but most of all she was a loving mother, grandmother and caretaker to her family. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Frances Belton, five brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her son, Joey Belton of Reidsville; daughters, Dorothy Shumake and husband, Gary of Stokesdale, Jewel Marie Belton of Reidsville, and Debbie Belton Patterson and husband, Bo of Gaffney, S.C.; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers, Floyd, Ben and Charles Gibson, sister, Elaine Scott and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 6 – 8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
