Frances was born July 14, 1923 in Reidsville to the late John Watt and Bessie Perkins Allen. She was a retiree of Chase Bag Co. with 30 years of service and a member of Hillview Presbyterian Church. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Elwood Manley; son, Charles (Charlie) Elwood Manley; granddaughter, Abby Renee Singleton; brothers, Everette Odell Allen, Edgar Lee Allen, John Willard Allen and sister, Ella Allen Gunn.
Frances (A.K.A. “Granny”) was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend. Her sacrifice and love for others was always evident in her actions. This was especially visible when it came to her family. She was the best cook and baker. She ALWAYS had a homemade cake in her kitchen ready to share with anyone. She was a talented seamstress and painter. She was the happiest at holidays when preparing for her family. She could darn the worst pair of jeans and socks and make them look and feel like new again. She was the “Matriot” of our family and will be missed greatly. We are so grateful for the many years of memories we had with her.
Survivors are her son, Curtis L. Manley and wife, Mildred; daughters, Wanda Hopper and husband, Steve and Susan Dunlow and husband, Ray all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Melissa Hladliek and husband Greg, Jonathan Manley and wife, Pam, Corrine Snead, Brittany Snead, Jessica Symank, Katie Fisher, Lauren Hopper and Landon Hopper; great grandchildren, Autumn Hopper, Garret Hladliek, Sidney Hladliek and Zoe Symank; great great grandchildren, Aiden Hopper, Alex Hopper; brother, James “Tim” Allen and wife, Marjorie of Ruffin.
