Reidsville: Frances ‘Plum’ Bullock Alston Trent, 79, of 707 Country Club Drive passed away in the early hours of Saturday December 5th, 2015. The funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 8th at her place of worship, First Presbyterian Church at 318 South Main Street. There will be a private family burial.
She was born in Reidsville, North Carolina on January 4th, 1936 to June and Frances Alston. She graduated from Reidsville High School and attended UNC-Greensboro (formerly Women’s College in Greensboro) before marrying Elton Trent Junior. After marrying they moved to Germany for two years before returning to Reidsville to start their family.
During her free time she and husband Elton loved traveling which allowed them to pursue their mutual passions for golf, skiing and fishing. She was President of the Piedmont Lung Association for many years as well as serving as President of the Annie Penn Hospital Auxiliary where she started the “Tree of Hope”. In addition she headed up a Division of The United Way and was a member of the local Junior Service League.
She is predeceased by parents Frances and June Alston; Twin brother, J.G. ‘Doc’ Alston Junior, sister, Betsy Lewis Alston and half brother, William Blaylock.
She is survived by husband Elton Trent Junior; sons Elton Trent III and wife, Sallie, Chris and wife, Andrea and son, Alston Trent; grandchildren, Sarah Alston, Francie, Taylor, Kathryn and Christyn.
The visitation will be at 11:15am until 12:45pm at First Presbyterian Church prior to the service with light lunch provided for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church at 318 South Main Street.
