Fred Lee Overby

Ruffin: Fred Lee Overby, 62, of 581 Perkinson Road, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Happy Home Congregational Church with Pastor Bruce McBride officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Overby was a native of Rockingham County and was the son of the late Percy and Lucille Evans Overby. He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was also a tobacco farmer and enjoyed going to auctions. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Roger Overby and his sister, Ann Smith. He is survived by his longtime companion, Laverne Lancaster; his son, Timothy Dale Overby; his daughters, Melissa Lea Adams and husband, Wayne, and Jessica Dawn Kutlik and husband, Joseph; five grandchildren; the mother of his children, Patricia Overby; his brothers, Ricky and Lewis Overby; sisters, Vickie Overby, Gail Gibbs and Karen Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and on Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 3-4 PM prior to the funeral service and other times at the home.
