G. Steven Harkey, Jr., 51, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital.

A Celebration Of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel.

Steve enjoyed playing golf, hanging out with his many close and dear friends that he made throughout his lifetime, and being a die-hard Duke fan. He loved growing sunflowers, listening to Rod Stewart, and The Rolling Stones. Many close friends knew his love for the “Champagne of Beers” and talking into the early morning hours! He never met a stranger and made the most of life. He loved spending time with the pups, MC, Riley and Shadoobie. As Steve would want everyone to know ….”It’s only Rock ‘n Roll.” and “Hey, try this, everybody’s doing it.”

Those who preceded Steve in death are his mother, Wynnell Gardner Harkey; maternal grandparents, Frank and Louise Gardner; paternal grandparents, Grady and Evelyn Harkey and uncle’s, Doug Harkey and Steve Frick.

Survivors are his wife, Michelle Harkey; father, Gary Steven Harkey, Sr.; aunt, Debbie Frick; cousin, Kristy Abernethy and husband, Jason and their children, Brynn and Brooks Abernethy and many other loving extended family members and friends.
