Garfield Davis Doss

Garfield Davis Doss, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at his home in Pelham, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 2PM Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Lawsonville Road Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Tuck officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 14 at Lawsonville Road from 6PM until 8PM and other times at his home.

Garfield was born in Rockingham County to the late Paul and Sue Doss. He was a faithful servant of Lawsonville Road Baptist Church for over 30 years. After a long and successful career, he retired from Corning Glass and Burlington Industries. He also preached for over 50 years at several locations.  

He was the best Papa ever to his many grandchildren and loved to spend time with his family. He loved to hunt, play golf and garden, and was an all-around outdoorsman.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Judy Doss; and brother, Paul Doss.

Garfield is survived by children, Denise Isley (Randy), Dwayne Doss (Kay), Rodney Doss (Teresa); grandchildren, Ashley Smith (Clem), Jonathan Walker (Stephanie), Brandon Doss (Sarah), Paige Mitchell, and Danielle French (Dylan); great-grandchildren, Jacob Blackwell, Kendall Smith, Jaxx Smith, Macy Walker, Cooper Walker, Lennox Doss and Ty French; and brothers, Wilbur Doss and Johnny Doss (Carolyn).
