Garland Chilton

Reidsville- Garland Chilton, 80,of 306 Broad Street, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM, Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Mr. Chilton was born in Rockingham County to the late Joseph P. Chilton and Mary Elizabeth Carter Ward. He was a member of Community Baptist Church and retired from Container Corporation in Greensboro after 47 ½ years of service. Garland loved people, hunting and bluegrass music and was a wonderful husband, father and great grandpa. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Garland Chilton, Jr.; four brothers; four sisters; five half sisters; and four half brothers. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Annie Mae Chilton; children, Jerry Garland Chilton, Bernice C. Paschal and husband, Rex, Joseph Michael “Joey” Chilton and wife, Charlene; grandchildren, Jason and Travis Chilton, Tracey Weaver, Chasity Chilton, Brandon, B.J., Carley and Jacob Paschal, Jordan Chilton and Jessica Chilton; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Vivian Denny, Colean Shropshire and husband, Claude, Cleo Lawson and husband, Parks, Josephine Hopkins and husband, Charles, Mary Smith and husband, Gene. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 17th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
