Geneva Cobb Paschal passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, surrounded by loved ones in her home in Reidsville, North Carolina. Born on May 13, 1941, in Caswell County, North Carolina, the daughter of Vester Houston Cobb (deceased) and Nellie Brintle Cobb (deceased). Geneva graduated from Anderson High School in 1959 and went on to graduate from Queens Business College.
Geneva married her husband Garland Earl Paschal in 1964, and they were married for 59 years. They had three daughters; Renea Paschal Myers, married to Dan Myers, and Tracey Paschal Anderson, married to Rick Anderson and Jennifer Paschal Rash, married to Robbie Rash.
Geneva loved spending time with her grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Katie Grey Rash, Nicholas Lee Myers, Andrew James Rash, Meredith Leigh Anderson, Jonathan Michael Myers, Justin Paul Myers, Megan Anderson Hunter, and Mandy Anderson Price. Geneva and family immensely appreciated her caregivers: Sheila Gwynn, Twila Whitley, Cindy Butler and Wilma Coffey.
Geneva enjoyed gardening, cooking, painting, watching baseball and basketball and cheering for NC State. She attended Lick Fork and Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Churches. During her work life, Geneva worked in administration at Kernodle Clinic in Burlington, Teacher Assistant at Reidsville City Schools, and Fire Educator/Interim Fire Marshal at Rockingham County Fire Marshal’s Office. Geneva also served as a Chief Judge for Rockingham County Board of Elections. She was honored to have been named Fire Educator of the Year for NC and President of the NC Office of State Fire Marshal.
A visitation will be held in Geneva’s honor at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville on Sunday, September 17th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 18th, at 2:00 p.m. at Bush Arbor Church in Yanceyville, NC followed by a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged for Hospice of Rockingham County. Arrangements are being handled by Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville, NC. The family is receiving guests at her home.
