George Elmer Gramling, 91, of Reidsville, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at his home.
George was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Henry Gramling and Leona Seitz Gramling. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict and went on to receive his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a Professor of Dairy Science at Clemson University and was a huge fan of their sporting teams. He later went to work with the DHIA (Dairy, Herds Improvement Association) and after retirement enjoyed volunteering at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. He enjoyed walking and playing tennis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Janet L. (Beckman) Gramling; brother, Henry Gramling, II; and sister, Margaret Gramling; grandson, Benjamin Gramling
He is survived by his sister, Eleanor Fischer, his children, Jeffrey Gramling (Cheryl), Tricia Parsons, Scott Gramling (Holly), and Kari McEowen (Jack); grandchildren, Nicholas Stinnett (Aranda), Vincent Stinnett (Danielle), Hannah Gramling, Derek Gramling (Samantha), Jacob Gramling, Daniel Gramling, Katherine Niemeyer (Mitchell), Christian Chapman, and Joshua McEowen.
