George Irvin "Sonny" Harrelson

George Irvin “Sonny” Harrelson, 87, of 1903 Amberhill Dr., went to meet his Savior surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM at East Side Baptist Church with Rev. Claude Harrelson and Rev. Gene Davis officiating. Sonny was born in Caswell County to the late George and Mamie Somers Harrelson. He was a loyal employee with Wilkerson Funeral Home for over 50 years and a charter member of East Side Baptist Church where he served faithfully. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his loving companion, Inez Harrelson who passed away March 15, 2015; sisters, Mae Harrelson, Evelyn Crews and Ruth Chilton; brothers, Herbert Harrelson, Harry Harrelson and Earl Harrelson. Survivors include his children, Yvonne Barrett and husband, Gary and Lanny Harrelson and wife, Marilyn; grandchildren, Missy Harrelson and Kelly Hines; great grandchildren, Kelsey, Autumn, Savannah and Jacob Hines; brothers, Claude Harrelson and wife, Alene, Joe Harrelson and wife Mildred and Bobby Harrelson and wife, Connie and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will see friends on Friday evening from 6-8 PM at East Side Baptist Church and other times at the home.
