George “Homer” Underwood, 85, passed away at the Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell on Saturday, December 21, 2019.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 23, 2019 at Lick Fork Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Gene Hogan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military honors. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service also at Lick Fork Primitive Baptist Church and other times at the home of his daughter.
Homer was born April 26, 1934 in Rockingham County to the late Walter Holt Underwood and Huldah Walker Underwood. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked as a supervisor for Cone Mills for many years in Gibsonville, NC.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Willis Underwood and his son, Jeffrey Underwood’ sisters: Lois Minson and Gray Miles; and brothers: Horace Underwood and Wallace Underwood.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Echols and husband, Jimmy and Janet Potter and husband, Jamie; and his son, Jason Underwood and his wife, Tammy; grandchildren: Crystal McNeal, Erik Ortega, Tabbitha Di Mauro, Dylan Underwood, Alan Potter, and Rebecca Potter; great grandchildren: Parker Di Mauro and Wyatt Di Mauro; and brothers: Paul Underwood and wife, Tillie, and David Underwood; and one sister, Dorothy Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
