Gerald M. Hodges, 77, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2021 at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Gerald was born in Rockingham County to the late Joe Ben Hodges, Sr. and Pearl Cochran Hodges. He retired from a wonderful career as branch manager at Pet Dairies. His job and the people he worked with were a big part of his life. He devoted his energy in life to making his adoring wife, Scarlett and children happy. He loved cooking, playing cards, watching the Soap Opera’s, sitting on his porch talking, visiting and relaxing. He centered every day around his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Ben Hodges, Jr. and sisters, Rachel Moorefield and Benny Ann Allison.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Scarlett Spears Hodges: children, Gerald Todd Hodges and wife, Karen, Tara Hodges Bradford and Reid Hooper, Kurt Hodges and wife, Beth; and granddaughter, Katherine Bradford. Katherine was the apple of Papa’s eye. He loved her and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for her and she loved him even more. He was the best Papa in the world. He was also survived by many special friends including Betty and Ronnie Daniels, Mary and Marshall Moricle, and Judy and Irvin Chapman. He always appreciated the “house calls” from his personal physician and friend, Dr. Gil Bradford.
The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors at the Moses Cone Hospital Congestive Heart Failure Clinic and the staff of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. They all gave dad the best of care.
The family will receive friends at the home of Kurt and Beth Hodges, 2305 Pine Lane, Reidsville.
