Pelham – Gladys McGuire Fulton Bailey, 91, of 2640 Red Marshall Road, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.There will be a private memorial service held at a later time.Mrs. Bailey was born in Washington County, VA to the late Cornelius McGuire and Mary Ingle McGuire. Gladys was an employee of Dan River Mills where she retired after 36 years of service. She was of the Methodist faith. Gladys was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She had a kind, quiet spirit that brought people close to her. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin Bailey, three brothers and two sisters. Gladys was the last surviving sibling of her family.Survivors include sons, Cosby Fulton of Gaffney, S.C. and Millard “Pete” Fulton and wife, Janet of Chatham, V.A.; daughters, Helen Pokrzywa and husband, Edward of Stokesdale, NC, Fran Murphy and husband Sammy of Pelham, N.C. and Mary Hardy and husband, Billy of Pelham, N.C.; grandchildren, Faye Lawson, Mary Cox, Shelia Elliott and husband Ben, Carolyn Daniels, Betty Tate, Melody Pryor, Christy Reynolds and husband, Harry, Candi Adams and husband Isaiah. She leaves a special love for Ben, Blake, Tripp and Ridge along with five generations of children.
