Reidsville – Gladys Sharpe Strader, 91, of Morehead Nursing Center in Eden, passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, June 7, 2010 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Warner and Rev. Aaron Withrow officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Strader was born in Rockingham County to the late Fredrick and Minnie Brame Sharpe. She was retired from McCrory’s Dept. Store and was a member of New Heights Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Elbert Wilson McCollum and Herman Jet Strader, Sr.; her son, Elbert Wilson McCollum, Jr.; sisters, Selma Judy McCollum, Jennie Perdue and Beatrice Mayhew; brothers, Clyde Sharpe, Dennis P. Sharpe and Walter Sharpe; step children, Marie McClintock, Herman Jet, Strader, Jr. and Harry Lee Strader; step great grandchildren, Lisa Strader and Tony Strader.Mrs. Strader is survived by her daughters, Louise Hill and husband, Don of Lawrenceville, GA, Carolyn M. Preble and husband, Marvin of Reidsville and Wilma M. Eanes and husband, Eugene of Reidsville; step children, Bryant Strader and Billie Sparks both of Reidsville; grandchildren, Bonnie Fliess and husband, Glenn, Shey McLemore, Eric Preble and wife, Sonya, Kevin Eanes, Tiffany Washburn and husband, Tim, Renee Martinez and Mark McCollum; step grandchildren, Greg Strader and wife, Wendy, Wesley Strader and wife, Tracey, Ben Strader and wife, Becky, Pam Denny and husband, Herbert, Tommy Sparks and wife, Susan, Cheryl French and husband, Ricky, Tonya Pugh and husband, Tommy, Jennifer Nichols and husband, Nick and Carolyn Wren and husband, Bobby; 10 great grandchildren; 26 step great grandchildren; special niece, Pauline Gibson and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Sunday, June 6 from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at Carolyn and Marvin Preble’s home, (2003 Carpenter Drive).
