Glenn James Saunders

Glenn Saunders, 87, of 514 Pennrington Circle, passed away at his home surrounded by his family. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Reidlawn Cemetery with Elder David Underwood officiating. Glenn was a native of Rockingham County and the son of the late, Ruby and Arnold Saunders of Reidsville. He attended Hargrave Military Academy and Reidsville High School. Prior to 2014, he was the owner/operator of Saunders True Value Hardware, Inc. His passion for work never faltered as he served the Reidsville community in the family business for over 65 years. He had a special bond with his employees and customers always treating them with kindness and grace. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Lester of Martinsville, VA. Glenn is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Samuels Saunders of the home; his two daughters, Debbie Ward and husband, Mike of Wilmington, NC and Renee Vollmer of Blowing Rock, NC; his grandchildren, April Ward, Michelle Kelly and husband, Rory, Patrick Vollmer, Maria Ward, Ben Vollmer, Michael Vollmer and John Matthew Vollmer; his great grandson, Jack Kelly; one brother, Tommy Saunders of Reidsville, NC and extended family. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 15, from 6:30-8:30 P.M and other times at the home.
