Gordon Graham Satterfield, 78, of Caswell County, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023 at his home.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday July 14, 2023 from 5:30 – 7:00 PM. A graveside inurnment will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday July 15, 2023 at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery on Park Springs Road Pelham, NC with Pastor Ronnie Jones officiating.
Gordon was born in Caswell County to the late John Lewis Satterfield and Mildred Isabelle Lough
Satterfield. Gordon was a true servant to his family and his community serving in the Virginia National Guard, as a Caswell County Commissioner for 16 years, the Caswell County Board of Education for 2 years, was a member of the Cobb Ruritan Club, serving as President, Vice President, Secretary and received the Ruritan of the Year in 1980. Gordon was actively involved with the Boy Scouts, a Scout as a youth and later in his adulthood was Scoutmaster of Troop #372, was a recipient of the Silver Beaver award, Scouting’s highest council award , later he served as District Chairman of the Conestee District. He was an active member at Bethel United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School and served on the administrative board, served as a volunteer firefighter, he was also a member of the Caswell Brotherhood Lodge #11, member Scottish Rite, and a 32nd Degree Shriner. For 45 years, Gordon owned and operated Caswell Tire Service in Yanceyville and Eden.
Gordon enjoyed his time on the golf course, coastal fishing, swimming, and farming.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Graves Satterfield Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Kay Jeffress Satterfield to whom he was faithfully devoted to for 55 years; son, John Irvin Satterfield (Jennifer); daughters Tammy Satterfield Scott (Lea) and Kimberly Satterfield Jones(Ronnie); nine grandchildren, whom he intensely adored: Benjamin Satterfield, Irvin
Satterfield, Georgia Scott, George Scott, Caroline Scott, Rachel Jones, Samuel Jones, Grace Jones and Christian Jones; siblings Bobby Satterfield, Mary Kiser (Kay) Mise, and Jack Satterfield; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Duke University Hospital’s oncology department for their amazing care over the years and Amediysis Hospice for their support in Gordon’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Lemma Hooks, 332 Henderson Road, Pelham, NC 27311.
