Reidsville – Grady Lee Hunt, 87, of 295 Hunt Lane, Reidsville, passed away on Saturday, May 14, at Countryside Village in Stokesdale. He had been a resident of Countryside Village since October of 2010. Funeral services will be held at Midway United Methodist Church, 10930, US Hwy 158, Reidsville, on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at two p.m. with the Rev. Larry Scott and the Rev. Suzanne Michael officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites. A native of Davidson County, he was the son of Bennie Edward “Ed” Hunt and Ida Belle Peacock and was born January 23, 1924. Grady graduated from Rankin High School in 1943. He served in the United States Army for nine years during WWII. He spent most of his working career as a tobacco farmer and a dairyman. He was committed to his family and loved the outdoors in every way. He was a long time and faithful member of Midway United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, twelve siblings, two wives, Rachel Saunders Hunt, and Louise Mangum Hunt, and one son, Bruce Lee Hunt. Mr. Hunt is survived by his sons William E. “Edd” Hunt and wife Ruby Lee and Richard Hunt and wife Gladys, all of Reidsville. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Suzanne Wuwert and husband, Jim, Dr. Rachel Hagler and husband, Brian, Eddie Hunt, and Ralene Hunt. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; Reese, Claire, David Edward, Jacob, and Hannah; numerous nieces and nephews and daughter-in-law, Dee Hunt. The family will receive friends Monday, May 16 from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at his home. Memorial contributions may be made to Midway United Methodist Church, 10930 US Hwy 158, Reidsville, NC 27320. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers of Countryside Manor and Avis Knight and her staff at Cheney's Restaurant.
