Grady B. Jones

Reidsville- Grady B. Jones, 89, of the Bethany Community, passed away, on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday August 18, 2014, at New Lebanon Christian Church with Dr. Mark Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service in the fellowship hall and other times the family will be at the home. Grady was born in Rockingham County to the late John W. “Babe” Jones and Lucy Levina Moore Jones. He was a lifelong farmer and a retiree of Lorillard Tobacco Company and a member of New Lebanon Christian Church. He loved farming, gardening, traveling, the outdoors and was known as a good neighbor and a great friend to many. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Vernell McCollum Jones; step mother, Sallie Wall Jones; siblings, Mary Lewey, Johnnie, Irvin, Rubert, Raymond and Bobby Jones; half sister and brothers, Emma Smith, Bill King and Abner King. Survivors include his children, Kenny and (Joyce) Jones, Monette and (Nathan) Rich all of Reidsville, Sherrill and (Phillip) Hilton of Summerfield and Bryan and (Cherie) Jones of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Seth and (Tracy) Jones, Brandy and (Ken) Curtis, Alex Springs, Suzanne Springs, Vallere and (P.G.) Shelton, Suzanne and (Dave) Lang, Kenzie Hanks and boyfriend William Etheridge, Zach Hilton, Rebecca and (James) Blankenship, Bryanne Jones and Brooklyn Jones; great grandchildren, Tony Farmer, Zane Prusia, Ethan Jones, David Springs, Autumn Springs, Ian Shelton, Zollie Shelton, Ceirdwyn Shelton, Eowyn Shelton, and two great grandchildren on the way; sister, Lucy Mason; sister-in-law, Jerri Jones and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
