Reidsville-Grandford Stedman McKinney, Sr., 86, of Reidsville died Sunday evening at his home.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and the burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.Mr. McKinney was born in Caswell County and was the son of the late Benjamin Blalock and Minnie Loftis McKinney. He was a longtime member of the Lawsonville community and graduated from Cobb High School in Caswell County. He was retired from the American Tobacco Company with over 36 years of service. He was a Master Mason with the Jefferson Penn Masonic Lodge # 384 AF & AM for over 57 years. He loved the outdoors, farming and always enjoyed making a deal. Mr. McKinney never met a stranger and was known in the community as a great story teller. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Frances Huskey McKinney and 9 brothers and sisters.Survivors include his daughters, Lynette McKinney McCormick and husband, Frank of Burlington, Denise McKinney Mabe of "Chapel Hill and Dare McKinney Boling and husband, Everett of Milwaukee, WI; his son, Grandford Stedman "Grant" McKinney, Jr. and wife, Teresa of Reidsville; grandchildren, Sam McCormick, Jonathan McCormick, Jamie Nichols, Lori Nichols and Jessica Mabe; his sister, Larvery Hulsey of Carthage, NC and brother, Melvin McKinney of Louisville, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 7 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and other times at his son's home (543 Salem Church Road, Reidsville).Memorial Contributions may be made to Jefferson Penn Masonic Lodge #384, PO Box 210, Reidsville, NC 27323.
