Harvey Howard James

Harvey Howard James 80 of Ruffin NC passed away peacefully on

July 1, 2023.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 6, 2023

at Burton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Mike Wright officiating.

Harvey was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late Nick and Agnes James. He lived most of his life in Reidsville NC and moved to White Lake NC for his retirement. Harvey was a long-haul Truck driver for over 30 years and a local truck driver for 10 years. He was always proud to say he had been to all 50 US States, Canada and Mexico during his lifetime of travels.  He married the love of his life, Nancy in 1964.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; brothers, Nicky, Bobby and Eddie James.

He is survived by his children, Tim James (Chattie), Kay James, Walter James (Shannon), Matt James (Hannah) and Jody Setliff (Erica); grandchildren, Dillon James, Wyatt James (Hannah), Taylor James-Wilson (Bobby) and Austin James; great grandchildren, Sawyer Lee Wilson and Amelia Pearl Wilson; brother, Joe James; sister, Beulah Powell (Jimmy); along with numerous nephews and nieces and especially Lori Brame (Rick).

Harvey loved being with family and friends, especially those friends that were made at White Lake.  He was Mr. Fix-it of Camp Clearwater, where he and Nancy spent their weekends and later their retirement.
