Hazel Smith Griffin

Martinsville, VA: Hazel Smith Griffin, 92, formerly of Reidsville, died Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Tender Years Adult Care in Martinsville. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 7, 2009 at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kathy Gochenour officiating. Mrs. Griffin was born in Rockingham County to the late Walter Robert and Susie Strader Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh P. Griffin, Jr.; sisters, Virginia Hannibal, Frances Parron, Mildred Loftis, Carolyn Simmons, Shirley Miller, Myrtle Wilson and Evelyn Hardy.Survivors include her son, Clay Watlington and wife, Debbie of Martinsville; grandchildren, Laurie Manning and husband, Bill, Ryan Watlington and wife, Shannon; three great grandchildren; brothers, W.R. Smith, Jr., Bennie Smith, Ken Smith and Jack Smith; sister, Doris Grimstead.The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 PM Sunday evening at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
