Reidsville: Hazel Norris “Nannie” Bumgarner, 80, of 1202 Gunn Street, Apt. 21 B, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Jacob’s Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Madison.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Evergreen Memory Gardens with her son-in-law, Mr. Roger Johnson and Rev. Bill McKinney officiating.
Mrs. Bumgarner was born in Tennessee and was the daughter of the late, Granville and Pansy Greene Norris. She was formerly employed with Washington Mills and Burlington Industries. She attended Christian Fellowship Church. Her family was her priority and her love for people was evident in the love others showed her. In just a short while she would make an affectionate connection and she would become, Mrs. Hazel. She lived to love people and make friends. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Gordon Bumgarner; her infant son, Ronnie Lee Bumgarner and brother, Kelly Norris.
Mrs. Bumgarner is survived by her daughter, Norma Bumgarner Johnson and husband, Roger of Reidsville; her grandchildren, Dana Dark and husband, Daniel and Ashley Johnson and wife, Lori; great grandchildren, Skyler and Lyndsey Dark; brother, Joe Norris and wife, Georgie; sister, Virginia Carroll all of Boone, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at her residence.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Jacob’s Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Madison for the loving care and support given to us during Mom’s stay and for giving her the sweet name of Mrs. Hazel. Also, we want to thank Dr. Ed Hawkins and staff for the many years of caring for Mom.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jacob’s Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Madison, 1721 Bald Hill Loop, Madison, NC 27025 in memory of Mrs. Hazel.
