Helen Hardy Barker

Reidsville- Helen Small Barker, 90, of 1221 Richardson Drive died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville following several months of declining health.Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 23 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Duke and Rev. Dave Huggins officiating. The entombment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at her residenceHelen was born in Reidsville to the late J. H. Small, Sr. and Blanche Hardy Small. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Reidsville and had been a nursery worker and member of a women's quartet in the distant past. She was a homemaker and spent her years nurturing and caring for her family.Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Barker, her brothers, Bill and Jack, Jr., her sister, Marian Stadler, sisters-in-law, Virginia and Hattie Small, brothers-in-law, Hillman Dickerson and Bill Stadler. Surviving are her daughters, Jane and husband, Ray of King, NC; Margarette Anne and husband Michael of Reidsville; James Robert of Reidsville; Thomas Lee Barker of Reidsville. She is also survived by her brother, David Small and wife, Sandra of Reidsville; sisters, Anne Dickerson of Henderson, NC and Elizabeth Spencer and husband, Thomas of Sugarland, Texas. She had six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She also had many nieces and nephews. Her special caregivers were Fondra Finney of Reidsville and Shelby Smith of Eden. She also received special care from Penn Nursing Center and Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.
