Helen Howell Buchanan

Reidsville – Helen Howell Buchanan, 88, of 588 NC Hwy 65, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Silver Chapel Cemetery in Bakersville, NC. Mrs. Buchanan was born in Mitchell County and was the daughter of the late John and Minnie Howell. She was the ultimate homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her love of music was evident by her regular singing of hymns. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, David Buchanan, Jr.; her son, Ronnie Joe Buchanan; and her sisters, Lillian Clayton and Naomi Reynolds. Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her loving family including, her children, Jerry Buchanan and wife, Sandi of Bakersville, Sue Aswell and husband, Robert of Reidsville, Linda Hobson and husband, Ralph of Bakersville and Michelle Garrison and husband, Tommy of Reidsville; grandchildren, Mike, Darla, Brandon and David Buchanan, Robert “Buddy” Aswell, Jamie Doman and Mollie Hobson; great grandchildren, Jeremy, Kearston, Nathaniel, Jerod and Tiffany Buchanan, Jacob and Skyler Aswell, Jordan Garrison and Issac Doman; great-great granddaughter, Kelci Buchanan; sisters, Dorothy Sparks, Jo Garland and husband, Max and Jean Usery and husband, Charles. She also loved her numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 6-8 pm. at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at Sue and Robert’s home (586 NC Hwy 65).
