Henry Calvin Durham

Reidsville – Henry Calvin Durham, 85, of Carolina House of Reidsville, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Annie Penn Hospital. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Reidlawn Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. The Rockingham County Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard will be performing Military Graveside Rites. Mr. Durham was born in Rockingham County to the late Martin and Fannie Durham. He was a veteran serving in the US Army during WWII. He was retired from the American Tobacco Company after 39 years of service. He was a longtime and faithful member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church. Mr. Durham was one of the original members of the Oregon Hill Volunteer Fire Department and the Co-founder and member of The Antique Engine Association of Reidsville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Marie Durham. Mr. Durham is survived by his wife, Evelyn Childress Durham of Reidsville; son, Jerry Durham and wife, Debbie of Reidsville; grandchildren, Seth Madison Durham and Grace Madison Durham; brothers, Robert Durham and wife, Gracie Ann of Reidsville and David Durham and wife, Susan of Danville, VA; brother-in-law, Luke “Jr.” Childress of Reidsville and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM., Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at Jerry and Debbie’s home (184 Greenwood Drive). In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Greenwood Presbyterian Church, 618 Narrow Gauge Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.
