Reidsville: Henry Franklin Joyce, Sr., 90, of 807 Johnson St., passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016, at Penn Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 28, 2016, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Warner, Rev. Jonathan Marlowe and Rev. George Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Henry was born on April 13, 1925, in Rockingham County, to the late John William and Dora Hutcherson Joyce. He grew up in the Madison and lived in Reidsville most of his life. He worked for the Reidsville Police Department for 34 years and retired as a Lieutenant. He loved to play golf and loved his family very much. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marietta Shelton Joyce, a daughter, Betty Jean Joyce, a grandson, Timothy Dean Strader, a son-in-law, David Earl Strader, and ten siblings.
Survivors include his son, Frank Joyce and wife Kathryn; his daughter, Geraldine Joyce Strader; his grandchildren, David Dwayne Strader and wife Christine, Eric Stephen Strader and wife Melany, Walter Franklin Joyce and wife Amanda, and MaryLynn Joyce Saunders and husband Michael; his great grandchildren, Holden Allen Joyce, Morgan Nicole Joyce, Christopher Dean Strader, Noah Aaron Strader, Sydney Rae Strader, David Lane Strader, Hudson Franklin Joyce, Rylee Kathryn Saunders and Stella Grace Saunders; a brother, Bobby Joyce; a brother-in-law, Alvis Shelton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 27, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville and other times at the home.
