Henry Hubert Lester

Ruffin – Rev. Henry Hubert Lester, 77, of 680 Lillard Road, died on Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at Canaan Land Baptist Church with Rev. Don Collins and Rev. David Bray officiating. The interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery, with military graveside rites. Rev. Lester was born in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Henry and Nannie Shelton Lester. He was a veteran serving in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Branch Motor Company as a truck driver. Rev. Lester served as the pastor of Canaan Land Baptist Church for over 30 years. Henry enjoyed fishing but most of all, he loved serving people and giving whatever he could to help the less fortunate. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. Rev. Lester is survived by his wife, Goldie Bourne Lester of the home; his son, Terence “Tuck” Lester of Stoneville, NC; his daughter, Vickie Mummel Ethridge of Reidsville; his church family and many friends. The family will receive friends Monday, September 13 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at the home.
