Henry Wilson Mitchell

Reidsville: Henry Wilson Mitchell, Jr., 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Avante Nursing Facility of Reidsville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Bray officiating. The burial will follow in Mount Herman Baptist Church Cemetery. Henry was a native of Rockingham County and was the son of the late Henry Wilson Mitchell, Sr. and Olive Hanlon Mitchell. He was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church. Henry spent most of his time as a mechanic and was a hardworking farmer and loving father and grandfather. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Perdue Mitchell Finney; and two children: Darrell Mitchell and Karen Mitchell. Henry is survived by his daughter, Shirley Mitchell and friend, Jerry of Reidsville; sons: Donnie Mitchell and wife, Melody, Tommy Mitchell and wife, Carla of Summerfield, James Mitchell and wife, Joy of Eden, Kenneth Mitchell and wife, Jane of Reidsville, Frank Mitchell of Reidsville, and John Henry Mitchell of Reidsville; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sisters: Nancy Cook, Joann Crumpton, Betty Warr, and Sarah Boyd; and a special friend, Betty Hagwood of Reidsville. The family will receive friends and family at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday evening, December 11, 2015 from 6-8 pm and other times at 251 Mitchell Road, Reidsville.
