Henry Anderson Tate

Reidsville: Henry A. Tate, 89, of 213 Rabbit Trail, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, October 12, 2010. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Jessie Hutchins, Paul Clark and Ray Smith officiating. Interment will be at Dan View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Wood, II, Ronald Boyd, Robert Costner, Jeff Thacker, Jay Tate and Dean Stone. Mr. Tate was born in Rockingham County to the late Ed and Bessie Chitton Tate. Mr. Tate worked most of his life as a farmer here in Rockingham County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eight siblings and his youngest son, Jimmy Anderson Tate. Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Katie Hutchins Tate of the home; son, Charles H. Tate and wife, Nancy of Reidsville; daughter, Pauline T. Harbour and husband, Bain of Ruffin; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson that made the fifth generation; sister, Lilley May Woods of Ruffin and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and family at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and at other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Will Primitive Baptist Church.
