Herbert Tuttle Robertson

Herbert Tuttle Robertson, 96, of Reidsville passed away on January 14, 2025, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital.

Herbert was born in Reidsville and was the son of Jim Will and Eliza Kate Scott Robertson. In 1948 he married his high school sweetheart Pauline Wall. Herbert and Pauline were married for 73 years and had two children, Donnie Robertson (Beth Robertson) and Diane Springs (Elvin Springs).

Herbert graduated in 1945 from Wentworth High School and then attended Bear Wheel Alignment School in Rock Island, Illinois. He went on to do front end alignment work for 55 years and retired from Fuqua Auto Service in 2002.

Herbert was a passionate sports enthusiast, dedicating many years to playing in the county baseball league. He cherished long walks on the beach and enjoyed staying fit at the YMCA of Eden. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and ACC basketball.

A faithful member of Leaksville Masonic Lodge #136, Herbert served in many offices including as Worshipful Master and attended meetings regularly.

Herbert was an active member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church where he was a deacon and choir member. For 27 years, he led the choir as director and his solos, especially "Thank You Lord for Your Blessings," were beloved by all.

Herbert found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as gardening, singing, and dancing at the American Legion. He loved traveling with family and friends, organizing numerous bus tours with his wife Pauline to destinations like Nashville, Tennessee, and Niagara Falls. Cruising was another favorite pastime, particularly with his daughter Diane.

Above all, Herbert's greatest love was his family. He never turned down a game of baseball with his children and grandchildren. For over 30 years, he took the entire family on annual trips to Myrtle Beach, SC, a place that held a special spot in his heart. Herbert was a constant presence at family gatherings and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Preceding him in death are spouse Pauline Robertson; daughter Diane Springs; siblings Janie Jarrell, Sarah Johnson, Jim Will Robertson, Jr. and Walter Robertson.

Remaining to cherish his memory are son Donnie Robertson (Beth); Grandchildren Chris Ratliff, Leigh Robertson (Nick Lauretta), Kamron Robertson (Khi Downey) and Carrie Ratliff Tuck (Grandy Tuck). Great Grandchildren John Ratliff (Ragan Ratliff), Zinn Lauretta, Ava Tuck, Asa Lauretta, Willow Tuck; Beloved family member Marshall Ratliff; Brother-in-Law W. A. Wall and many cherished nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the members of Mount Hermon Baptist Church for the care and compassion they provided to Herbert throughout his life.
