Reidsville – Hilda Marie Gammons, 83, of 811 Dockery Road, passed away Wednesday,
March 5, 2008 at Alamance
Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at
2:00 PM, Sunday, March 9, 2008 at New
Heights Baptist
Church with Dr. Harold
Venable and Dr. Tommy Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Primitive Baptist
Church Cemetery.
Miss Gammons was born in Rockingham County to the late James Arthur and
Elsie Marie Smith Gammons on May 7, 1924. She retired from Chase Bag Factory
after 48 years of service and was a member of New Heights
Baptist Church
in Reidsville. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters,
Mrs. Frances Nelson, Mrs. Doris Griffith and Mrs. Evelyn Hutchins.
She is survived by her brother,
H.A. “Arthur” Gammons and wife, Pat of TX; her nieces and nephews, Mrs. Sandra
Riddle and husband, Eddie of MS, Mr. Eddie Nelson of Kernersville, Mrs. Bonnie
Teel and husband, Roger of Anderson, SC, Mr. Tom Nelson and wife, Deborah of
Reidsville, Mrs. Deborah Talbert of VA, Mrs. Donna Hornsby of GA, Miss Diane
Griffith of VA., Mr. James Hutchins and wife, Mary of Gibsonville, Mr. Lonnie
Hutchins of Reidsville, Mrs. Betsy Frick and husband, Jay of Burlington, Mrs.
Anne Scott and husband, Bobby of Burlington, Mr. Kenny Hutchins and wife, Judy of
Burlington, Mr. H.A. Gammons, “JR” and wife, Glenda of TX, Mrs. Karen Perkins and
husband, Mike of Surf City and Mr. Jerry Gammons and wife, Jan of MS; 27 great
nieces and nephews; 29 great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends
at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Saturday, March 8th from 6 to 8 PM and other times
at the home of her niece, Betsy Frick, 1551 Apple Street Ext., Burlington.
