Hilda Chatmon Ratliff, 63, of Reidsville, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Hospice, in Wentworth, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Baptist Temple Church in Reidsville, with Reverend George Fox and Reverend John Groff officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Ratliff is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, William F. (Fred) Ratliff, her daughter, Gretchen Ratliff Parrish and husband Wayne, her adoring twin grandsons, Caleb and Daniel Parrish, who will miss their Gram dearly, and her daughter Anna Ratliff.
In addition to being a member of Baptist Temple Church in Reidsville, Mrs. Ratliff attended church at First Baptist of Oak Island while spending time at her beach house. She enjoyed fishing with her husband on Ocean Crest Pier, playing dominoes, cooking for family and friends, tending her beautiful flowers, and creek-stomping, four-wheeling and playing on the farm and beach with her grandsons.
Mrs. Ratliff graduated from Reidsville High School and Kings Business College in Greensboro. After marrying and starting a family, she left her career to raise her children. She actively served on many committees and held various positions at her church. She later served as a Voting Precinct Official in the Wentworth Township, worked at the former NCNB in Wentworth, worked as a secretary for the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 80, served as a substitute teacher at Bethany and Wentworth Schools and worked part-time at Rockingham Community College as a receptionist and in the RCC Bookstore. She and her husband also enjoyed participating in craft shows selling steel angels and homemade jams, jellies and pickles.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of her daughter, Gretchen Parrish at 910 County Home Road in Reidsville.
