Hilda Moore Stone

Ruffin – Hilda Moore Stone, 81, of 1979 Oregon Hill Road, Ruffin,NC, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Rock of Ages Baptist Church with the Rev. David Hatcher officiating. The burial will follow in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Overby, Timmy Overby, Chris Sutton, James Smith, Jr., Brandon Overby and Luther Stone, Jr. Mrs. Stone was born in Rockingham County to the late Lee and Roxie Chilton Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church. She enjoyed embroidery and working puzzles. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Odell Stone; brothers James, Johnny and Bill Moore; sisters, Ella Mae Oliver, Wyomi Moore and Stella Winfield; granddaughter, Lisa Michelle Stone and grandson, Jessie Gary Overby, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Wendy Jefferies and husband, T. J., Yvonne Smith and husband, Jimmy, Susan Terry and husband, Steve; sons, Clayton Stone and wife, Yvonne, Harold Stoneand wife, Cindy, and James Stone, all of Ruffin; sister, Pat Hodge and husband,Tom of Eden; brothers, David Moore and wife, Wetony of Eden, Jimmy Moore, Bobby Moore and wife, Mattie of Ruffin; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends, Saturday, November 8 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 7:00 – 9:00 PM and other times at the home. The family would like to thank the second floor nurses of Annie Penn Hospital and the staff of Hospice.
