Hortense Slaydon Hopper

Hortense Slaydon Hopper, 93, passed away at Countryside Manor on Monday, October 22, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Hortense was a daughter of the late Jesse and Pearl Newman and lived in Reidsville all her adult life. She worked for 37 years in the medical field for Dr. Trigg, Dr. Forbes and Dr. Reynolds and after retirement enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. She was a true southern lady, always polite, kind and supportive until the very end. She was a longtime member at Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Earlie Estes Slaydon and Harold Hopper; daughter, Pamela Slaydon; and sister, Glendale Patterson. She is survived by her daughters, Lauran Garst, Dana Taylor and husband, Daryl; grandson, Gavin Taylor. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Calvary Baptist Church and other times will be at the home of Dana and Daryl Taylor.
