Reidsville: Hugh Clay Johnson, 55, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Memorial services will be held 11:00AM on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Housewright officiating. Inurnment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, April 10, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Clay was born in Rockingham County to the late Hugh Joe Johnson and Mary Johnson Equils. Ask anyone about Clay and they would say, “He was a good man.” His focus in life was never about himself, but for his family and others. He touched people in many and various ways, as he never met a stranger. He was very involved in the lives of his family and grandchildren, as he was the “wise old man.”
Along with his parents, Clay was preceded in death by his uncle, Hugh Jack Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Holley Johnson of the home; son, Hugh Caleb Johnson and wife, Breanna of Mayodan; grandchildren, Holly and Clay Johnson; sisters: Anita Johnson of Reidsville, Amy Barringer of Reidsville; and brother, Colt Johnson of Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Karen and family would like to express a special thanks to nephew, David Neal Williams, Dr. Stephen Knowlton and staff, and Dr. Matthew Manning and staff at the Moses Cone Cancer Center, and Kayla from the hospice center.
